I decided to do one of those crazy take off to Europe things that I maybe should have done in my twenties, but decided to do now in my thirties. There was nothing wrong in my life. I didn’t leave because of a broken heart, or to go searching for love, nor was there anything wrong in my work life. I was getting too comfortable and decided I needed to do something to make me uncomfortable – really uncomfortable. My job allowed me a leave of absence for a bit which eased my mind a little knowing I may still have a job when (and if) I come back. I hate to get dramatic about things, but I just never felt or feel like I belong in places I have tried to live. I get it, that’s life. Sometimes you just have to make the most of where you are, but for now I’m going to make the most of where I am and my life. You only have one, right? Unless you believe in reincarnation.
I am currently in Milan, It., and I can’t complain. I love Italy, so i decided this would be a great place to start where I do have family and friends here and can manage with the language. My friend is also with me taking a course, which also made the trek easier.
We are in the Navigli area of Milan which is a trendy, sort of hipster area, with lots of places to eat, drink and shop (this is problematic for me). We also went for the Milanese aperitivo and had a spritz. Right now, it still feels like a vacation and I’m trying not too stress – too much.
Hopefully this blog will show you some adventures in Italy and my journey along the way.
